How do buy-to-let investors raise finance?

The most common form of finance for purchase of rental property is through buy-to-let mortgages.

Criteria for lending varies and banks will loan based on a combination of criteria including:
· The rental income from the property
· Are you an experienced investor?
· Your income
· What percentage loan to value you are looking for.  80% is common for investment properties.

Investors usually raise the balance of the purchase price by releasing equity from existing investment properties.
