How can I check if my tenant has registered with Irish Water?
Landlords can contact Irish Water to determine if there is a person, other than themselves, registered as a customer at the property; however Irish Water will not provide the names or details of those registered.
Can I check if my tenant is paying their water bill?
No, Irish Water cannot disclose information relating to your tenant’s account.
My tenant has not registered with Irish Water, what can I do?
As the landlord of the property, you can contact Irish Water and provide the name of your tenant. Irish Water will then write to your tenant to invite them to register. This will ensure that you are no longer liable for water services charges whilst the tenant continues to be the occupant of the property.

A tenant will be moving into/out of a property soon, what do I need to do?
If a tenant is moving into or out of your property, it’s important for them to contact Irish Water so they can set up a new account or update an existing account.
They will need to provide:
Their name, the address they are moving into or out of, their contact details and an Irish Water account number if applicable.
Can I read the water meter?
Yes you can take a reading from the Irish Water meter or you can request Irish Water take a meter reading. They will charge €17 for this.
